Our Creative Community & Micro Print Fair

We’re now approaching the end of Our Creative Community. It’s been a fantastic couple of weeks meeting all of the artists involved as well as people dropping in to take a look at the exhibition or to buy a print to help support the Adur & Worthing Trust. 

There’s still time to visit the exhibition this weekend if you haven’t done so already. Make sure you drop in to have a look to discover lots of talented artists from across Adur, Worthing and beyond.

Working with mixed media, such as watercolour, pastels and acrylics, as well as exploring a diverse range of subjects from portraits, landscapes to seascapes, Carole Morris and Richard Fisher have honed their craft in creating unique works of art.

How Long Is That Dog?
08 – 13 April // 10.00 – 17.00

Step into a world of playful pup-puns with John Bond as he shares his latest creation in his week-long exhibition bursting with limited edition prints, sausage dog themed merchandise and of course, a collection of his bestselling books. 

Chromatica
15 – 20 April // 10.00 – 17.00

Expect bold colours, eye-catching designs and contemporary homewares in Chromatica, showcasing the works of Basia Asztabska, Alex Borg and Erin Cain.

Basia Asztabska is a photographer and graphic designer combining geometric shapes, simple lines and the natural landscape creating contrasts between the wild beauty of nature and clean, minimal design.

Alex Borg creates art and garments inspired by a love of pop culture and modernism. 

Erin Cain (Onyx Studio) creates contemporary, hand poured, colour-led concrete homeware using clean lines, simple and geometric shapes. 

Michael Harbour: High Tides
15 – 20 April // 10.00 – 17.00

Capturing nature’s elements in his atmospheric semi-abstract landscapes, Michael Harbour will be showing his latest collection of paintings inspired by the ever changing weather on the coast, and capturing movements of the seas, rivers and landscapes in Worthing and even the river Thames in London.

Spring Art Exhibition: 4 Artists from Shoreham-by-Sea
22 – 26 April // 10.00 – 17.00

Step into spring with Hattie Lockhart-Smith, Nick Fer, Sarah Fer and Mathilde Blum as they showcase a selection of mixed media paintings, collage, delicate drawings and hand-built ceramics.

Hattie Lockhart-Smith uses a range of acrylic paint and printing techniques to create dynamic mixed media abstract works that reflect her passion for experimentation and exploration.

Nick Fer uses collage to explore an abstract and surreal world often combining machine imagery with other forms.

Sarah Fer’s atmospheric paintings inspired by living and working by the Adur estuary combine the natural history of the estuary, local beaches and the environmental impact on them.

Mathilde Blum is a potter who makes hand-built ceramics using coils and slabs, creating small one-off sculptures, pots and vessels.

Green Tides: Flower Power – Art Celebration
22 – 26 April // 10.00 – 17.00

During summer 2024, residents across Adur & Worthing joined Green Tides to celebrate wildflowers and pollinators. Receiving an abundance of beautiful photos and other pieces of work exploring a range of creative endeavors, they are now making their way to the gallery walls this spring.

John Shelley
29 April – 04 May // 10.00 – 17.00

John Shelley returns to Colonnade House with his unique painting style that blends together the ordinary and surreal. Using his imagination as his source of inspiration, as well as being inspired by the Enlish countryside, his dreamlike landscapes are created from fantasy.

Fred Delius: Urban Painting en Plein Air
29 April – 11 May // 10.00 – 17.00

Fred Delius is known for his detailed watercolour paintings of local scenery and will be sharing his latest collection of sketches and paintings made around the streets of Worthing and the surrounding areas.

Liverpool Sculpture Prize // Deadline 08 April

The Liverpool Sculpture prize is an annual competition prize for sculptors in the UK to have their work displayed at a high profile location within the city for twelve months. The prize is £2500 and the artist will be supported in transporting and installing their work. Find out more here.

The University of Sussex Public Art Opportunity // Deadline 08 April

The University of Sussex is seeking an artist to create a public artwork as part of its new West Slope development. The piece of work will be a celebration of Sussex and create a sense of place. The artwork should be functional, incorporating local, traditional, sustainable materials and skills, honoring the local biodiversity. Find out more and apply here.

The Union Park Holding Art Project // Deadline 11 April

Wembley Park is seeking artists to create a striking 70m mural for Union Park North, celebrating themes of belonging, culture, nature, and celebration. Open to professional and emerging artists worldwide, the selected artist will receive £12,698.41, high-profile exposure, and community engagement opportunities. Public Art Opportunity // Deadline 30 April

The deadline has been extended for the Hyde Dev Co public art installation at the Former Civic Centre, Shoreham-by-Sea. Open to all artists, the piece can be a single or multi-part work, integrated into the landscape or street furniture, and should reflect a connection to the local community.
