Worthing Light Festival is an exhibition of stunning, sustainable art installations that light up on renewable energy on Worthing’s East Beach, at EAST BEACH STUDIOS, BN113QA. The event will be free, accessible to all and run for 48 hours nonstop 14-16th September 2018.

Worthing Light Festival is run by the East Beach Artist Collective (EBAC) based at East Beach Studios. EBAC was established in 2016, however we have existed informally since 2006. EBAC is a vibrant hub of over 25 artists with years of experience, all of whom share resources, materials, skills and equipment. We reach out to all sectors of the community in a myriad of ways. As a non-profit artist organisation, we work collectively to promote our abilities as artists and craftspeople, organise events to contribute to the community and to enhance the cultural life of Worthing. EBAC artists also help organise the annual art trail – Worthing Artists Open Houses. We have established a strong reputation for being a leading artistic hub in our community, supporting people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to participate whilst developing new skills and career opportunities.

Creative Waves (CW), a local community arts organisation, will create an interactive light art ‘playground’. To inspire young people’s involvement CW will engage local schools, running workshops prior to the event to create a fun, interactive experience during the festival. To engage further with festival audiences, Poi Passion will deliver ‘fire and light’ performances.

Professional artists/ makers /designers and amateurs can apply to exhibit a sculptural light or an installation using light suitable for an outdoor exhibition. All installations can only use renewable energy or a 12V battery. The cut-off date for entries is the end of July. There are two categories; over and under 16 years of age. Installations will be judged by a panel (including artist Ali Lapper MBE) winners of both categories will receive £100.
