The evening is co-hosted by local social enterprise We Are FoodPioneers CIC and the Marine Conservation Society. We will share stories from Kingmere, a Marine Conservation Zone just off the coast in Worthing, and will introduce guests to one of the most nutritious, sustainable and ancient superfoods of the sea as part of the “Neptune’s Larder” project.
We will also be screening the incredibly important and beautiful film BLUE.
“BLUE is the story our generation need to hear. The industrialization that has occurred in the oceans over the last century, mirrors the events that triggered mass extinctions on land. Industrial scale fishing, habitat destruction, species loss and pollution have placed the ocean in peril. The very nature of the sea is being irretrievably altered. BLUE is a provocative journey into the ocean realm, witnessing this critical moment in time when the marine world is on a precipice.”
Neptune’s Larder, Worthing’s first ever seaweed programme, is run by FoodPioneers, and brings together aspects of local food heritage, nutritious ingredients and cookery as well as marine conservation right here in our town.
