Ever had a conversation about climate change? Don’t know where to start because it’s such a HUGE issue? Worthing Climate Action Network can help.

Their two-day event ‘Climate Conversations’ will provide space for people to ask and find out anything about climate change and its potential impacts. They recognise that it’s a massive, complex and unwieldy issue.

The basic facts of climate change have not changed in our understanding of the science over the last 40 years. The burning of fossil fuels to power our lives, be that through where we live, what we eat or what we buy, has radically improved Western lifestyles. However, this growth is not without consequence.

Carbon dioxide and other greenhouses gases are warming our planet’s atmosphere, geologically in the blink of an eye. Plastic pollution has been called out, with single-use plastic shown to be a long-lived pollutant, killing wildlife on land and in the oceans. The living world is being disrupted in ways that we didn’t comprehend, impacting nature and humanity alike.

Worthing CAN will help detangle and interpret the data and science. Together you can discuss and think about what we can and need to do as individuals and as a community. The conversations will be collected, your hopes and fears recorded, with the ambition to organise a wider conference in spring 2020.

The weekend will be a place to talk about climate change, its impacts and specific issues relating to it, as well as signposting other local activities and organisations that aim to reduce our environmental impact.
