Exhibition Planning at Colonnade House

This is one for anyone exhibiting at Colonnade House or those that are planning to in the future.

Meet the Colonnade House team as we take you through the steps of what it takes to plan, market, curate & prepare for a solo or group exhibition.

Both sessions are free but we’re asking for donations to support the Adur & Worthing Trust.

Together We Fold: Adults Workshop

Tuesday 13 May 2025 // 11.00 – 13.00 // Free (£5 donation optional)

Join Emily for Together We Fold, a calming and creative activity in celebration of Mental Health Awareness Week. Contribute to a community display at Colonnade House Gallery by folding your own origami hearts – a symbol of connection, support and shared hope.

How to take part:

Fold from home: fold as many origami hearts as you like then drop them off at Colonnade House Gallery before Saturday 17th May to be included in the display. Request free, digital origami heart-making instructions for yourself, your organisation, or your community group by emailing the artist at: emily.femigami@gmail.com

Join a workshop: Book a free space at our origami heart-making workshop on Tuesday 13th May (adults) or Saturday 17th May (families) at Colonnade House Gallery (Children must be accompanied by an adult.) Both workshops are free to attend but donations to support the Adur & Worthing Trust are welcomed on the day.

About the artist: Emily discovered origami during her own journey with anxiety, finding its rhythmic process calming and meditative. A writer for a national mental health charity and a trained mindfulness practitioner, Emily runs her origami workshops across the UK, facilitating discussions about wellbeing between people of all ages.

Photographing Your Work

Tuesday 13 May 2025 // 14.00 – 15.30 // Free (£5 donation optional)

Whether you’re an artist, maker or a small business owner, learn how to transform your website and socials using photography.

Guided by the Colonnade House team, we’ll give an overview of the basics for how to photograph different artworks using just a smartphone or a camera.

At the end of the session you can try our hanging system, use our plinths and our ERCO lighting system to photograph some of your artwork.

Who needs a Creative Education?

Wanting to learn more about pathways into a creative career? Ever thought of enrolling on a creative degree? Mike Pailthorpe, lecturer at Northbrook College will cover the basics on how to get started on exploring options both for young people, and those who are looking to study later in life.

Mike will cover;

  • The latest developments with creative education.
  • Student Finance.
  • Part Time vs Full Time.
  • Paying back student loans.
  • Student outcomes.

Shake it Up: Marketing Planning for Creatives

Juggling your creative practice and marketing can be tricky.

Take this opportunity to get profesional help in building a marketing plan. Join Rachael Dines, a Chartered Marketer and founder of Shake it Up, to learn what needs to be included in your plan so that you can showcase your creative work, build a brand and attact new customers.
