Elizabeth Mienert: Musing and Meandering

Elizabeth Mienert: Musing & Meandering

Elizabeth Mienert’s upcoming exhibition brings together a rich body of work, focusing on watercolour sketches taken directly from her travel sketchbooks.

As a peripatetic artist, Elizabeth, has spent the last decade travelling with her miniature watercolour palette and sketchbook through diverse landscapes across Europe and America. She captures it all in her fresh, loosely expressionistic style from the Northern lights of Tromsø in the Arctic Circle through Denmark and Brittany to the baking stones of Granada in Southern Spain and from Carmel’s picture-perfect Pacific shores in Western California via Yosemite’s dramatic valleys to the British Isles, bustling Valencia and Rimini on Italy’s pine-scented Adriatic shores.

About Elizabeth

Brought up in Shoreham-by-Sea, Elizabeth studied a BA (Hons) Multi-Media Film and Art in Winchester. She worked for many years as a film colourist in London’s Soho where she lived in a warehouse arts collective in Bethnal Green called the GEC (General Education Centre) – the perfect place to explore her practice through film and fine art, with the forms often merging and informing each other.

She later moved back to the south coast with her husband and children, where she became immersed in theatre in the alternative Brighton scene and studied creative writing. Now living with her family in Valencia, Elizabeth is a multi-disciplinary artist, who enjoys threading media together to pursue the artistic fancies and fantasies her travels inspire. She loves the play that arises as her ideas morph across media and landscapes and invites you to join her on this never-ending journey.
