Homeward Bound Sea Shanty Experience led by shantyman Zack McKracken

Saturday 09 August // 11.00 – 12.30 & 13.30 – 15.00 // Free

Join a Shanty singing session as a family to draw a close to two weeks of our free, quality based arts based activities.

With his unique ” sailors weren’t singers, they were sailors, no airs no graces” philosophy

and with the gumption and spirit enough to power the Titanic across the Atlantic,

He brings together the salty souls, levels the decks,  and, using the traditional sea shanty form of call and response

(specifically designed for certain tasks to be done on board….to increase the spirit and hearts of the crew)

whips everybody together, whether tawdry tonsils or nay

and together, he will have the room bawlin’ away with the most rousing, heartiest and well known centuries old sea shanties dating back to the golden age of sail!

Songs which are sung on ships and in taverns all around the world….

and songs you will never forget…..

About the Sea Shanty’s

Homeward Bound offer unique and immersive nautically themed experiences that’ll give you and your crew a little taste of maritime history and leave you feelin’ truly bonded. Gathered together, songbooks in hand, led by able shantyman Zack McKracken.

Sea shanties (from the French “chanter” –  to sing) are sailors work songs that were sung to keep up the spirits and morale of the crew as well as to provide a beat for heavy, repetitive tasks requiring synchronised movements.
