After their much acclaimed 2017 show at Colonnade House, these Worthing artists return again to their local gallery.
John Evans, a ceramicist, uses naked clay – no glaze – techniques to mark his work. Janet Branscombe, a painter and sculptor, with a new range of oil paintings and drawings.
Visitors will see the changing state of both artists’ work. Moving from styles embodied and set over a long period into new directions as their inspirations, directions, and sometimes collaborative ideas, develop.
For Janet, also a psychotherapist and yoga teacher, it is a transition from her abstract figurative work to the now pure abstraction of forms, colours, and relationships. While John moves from his well-known, monochrome, naked raku burnished ceramic surfaces towards the painterly coloured vessel forms now dominating his new work.
