Liz English Exhibition 2022

John Stanley-Clamp trained at the West Sussex College of Art. Later he was accepted at the Royal College of Art but had to complete his National Service first before taking up the offered place.

After graduating from the RCA, John became the exhibition and window designer at Harrods of Knightsbridge. From there he joined Kodak as their designer for exhibitions and window design at their Kingsway and Regent Street shops and also locations abroad.

John then joined Conran Design Group as their Graphic Art Director.

Later on he started to freelance for ad agencies, films, magazines and also The Rude Mechanicals theatre company as a photographer and visualiser. This led to further part time work with Philips Records. During this time, John also did further part time work within art colleges. He was offered a full time position to run the photography department at his old art school, now Northbrook College. Later, it was decided to bring the graphics and illustration together to form the Visual Communication department, which John then ran.

On retirement, under the name Roxanne, he began teaching life drawing classes to adults which ran for many years. John also shared several studios with other artists and has had many exhibitions.
