New Beginnings by Curious Threads
New Beginnings is the first group exhibition of newly founded contemporary quilt and textile art group Curious Threads, based in Southwick, with members from the surrounding East and West Sussex and Surrey area.
Members include textile artists who exhibit internationally in Europe and the US as well as those just commencing their textile journey. All have, however, completed City and Guilds qualifications as a minimum with some now teaching or demonstrating their work.
Comprising 12 members, they are enthusiastic about their textile art, combining a mixture of quilting, printing, multi-media and stitch embroidery. They are keen to support and inspire one another and committed to regular exhibitions of work completed both individually and as a group.
This exhibition at the light and airy Colonnade House, appropriately named “New Beginnings” includes work from three separate group challenges. Whilst cohesive in their presentation, the individual style of each artist sings through. This exhibition is a rich demonstration of variety, helping to cement together a new group of people who are all looking to provide quality textile work in an exciting manner.
