Peas & Needles: I made it myself

‘I Made it Myself’ is your invitation to do just that in this fun-filled festive week of craft workshops for all. Come and create unique decorations for your home, friends and family. We’ll cover a variety of crafts from weaving, to macrame, to punch needle, there’s something for everyone.

All workshops last 2 hours and materials are kindly provided by West Worthing Hobbycraft.

Sessions will be run by Lucy Rowan (as seen on Kirsty’s Handmade Christmas); a local textile designer, maker and author specialising in weaving and punch needle. We also have a guest tutor; artist and educator Ellie Bond, who will guide you through the making of her beautiful bird decorations.

Wednesday 7 & Saturday 10 December // 10.30 – 12.30 // £25

This class is ideal for beginners who are interested in learning the basics of weaving on a lap loom. Hand weaving is a meditative art that allows you to unwind while creating something beautiful and what better way to start than with a Christmas stocking.

Deck the halls with these simple wooden bead star decorations. They make the prettiest decorations to hang on your tree and with a bit of practice you’ll be able to make all three designs.

This dried flower festive wreath is a little bit different to traditional Christmas wreaths. The good news is that it is really easy to make and as it is mostly all dried, it lasts the whole festive season.

Bird decorations

Friday 9 December // 10.30 – 12.30 // £20

Join Ellie Bond in this two hour workshop where you will produce a collection of bird shaped Christmas decorations. Have fun pattern making onto pleather, using templates to cut your birds out and then transforming them into unique small hangings using various crafty accessories. They look great on the tree or made into a garland. Make as many as you can!

Lucy Rowan

Lucy is a textile designer and maker specialising in weaving and punch needle. She has been featured in many publications including Mollie Makes and Elle Decoration. She is the author of 3 craft books and you can often find her hosting workshops in the South of England passing on her textile skills.

Ellie Bond

Ellie Bond is a practising Artist and maker, teaching on the Foundation Art and Design course at Northbrook College, Worthing. Ellie works with various media, from textiles to mural painting. She is currently focusing on her stained glass collection to show at the Worthing Christmas Artist Open Houses.
