Carolyn McConnell and Diana Holmes graduated in the same year, in Fine Art and Fine Art Painting respectively. They share a deep love of mark making.
Carolyn’s latest work is inspired by a photographic image of the full moon at night with a foreground of winter tree branches. She has returned to working with oils, now overlaid with marks made by natural materials on dark coloured surfaces.
Diana’s work has always focused on the natural world, but more recently the full moon and the shapes and shadows within.
Painting the same subject during this period has afforded her time to explore the interior and surrounding spaces of the moon by experimenting with the fluidity of inks on canvas and a variety of papers.
