Vibrancy: carved, glazed and painted porcelain from Sarah Mills

With guest artists Nora Young and Alan Cross

I seek to challenge the boundaries of what can be achieved with porcelain by working and carving the clay to accentuate the vitality and translucency of the material.

My designs reflect movement and elemental images of nature, with dynamic fluid strokes inspired by the sea, wind, vegetation, and the chaotic lines of the natural world.

As well as being the medium to craft the object, porcelain is my canvass. The functional and decorative boldness of the carvings, glazes and markings are a counterpoint to the finesse of the high fired ceramic.
