The Mark You Make group of local artists came together in early 2024 to develop a continuing consideration of the mark-making process in their work, to share experiences, influencers and their own practice. With the support of a Creative Commission grant from Adur and Worthing Trust the group began meeting regularly, exploring the local environment, supporting each other and providing events to promote the fundamental idea that it starts with a mark.
The group will be bringing their art to Colonnade House, setting up their Pop Up Artist Studio in both galleries. In answer to the question “What do artists do all day?” Here’s your chance to find out!
During the residency 13 members of the group will be using Gallery 1 as a working studio, developing their individual and shared art projects. They have a program of ideas and techniques that they will be exploring so it will change every day! There will also be a display of their artwork to view and for sale in Gallery 2.
This is a return for the Mark You Make Pop Up Artists Studio to Colonnade. Last time the artists involved enjoyed working alongside each other, experimenting, having time for conversations, sharing influences and discussing outcomes. The unknowable aspect last year was what would passers-by think? The group’s friendly welcome and visitors intrigue brought many through the door to find out more, questions and chat, browsing and exchanging of ideas created one of the highlights of the Pop Up experience.
Call in for a look, wander and sit down. There will be sketch books, art books, objects to browse and explore and art being made.
This is going to be a great couple of weeks of evolving artwork, call in to see what’s happening.
Open Tuesday 20 Janaury – Sunday 01 February // Closed Sunday 25 & Monday 26
