As we settle into the return of our regular exhibition programme, this February we’re celebrating LGBTQ+ history month with the Socially Engaged Art Salon, welcoming the Mark You Make artists group and local artists Steve Gallagher & Shona Macdonald to the gallery.
Making a Mark
04 – 15 February // 10.00 – 17.00
The Mark You Make artists group will be turning the gallery into their very own pop up artists studio for two weeks. During their time in the gallery they will be creating artwork to fill the walls, and sharing ideas and inspirations. This is your opportunity to get to know the group and find out more about each of their practices.

Monochrome: A Study in Light & Shadow
04 – 08 February // 10.00 – 17.00
Capturing the delicate forms of flowers and the striking atmospheric of local landscapes, photographer Steve Gallagher will be showcasing a selection of his monochrome artworks for his upcoming exhibition. Spend the week to reflect on the beauty of nature and explore Steve’s photographic body of work.

Shona Mor Macdonald: Nigredo
11 – 15 February // 10.00 – 17.00
Shona Macdonald works in a variety of mediums ranging from illustration, sculpture and printmaking with her work being concerned with death and renewal in the natural world. For her upcoming exhibition, Shona will be showcasing a selection of recent prints, sculptures and artists’ books that illustrates glimpses from the journey taken navigating the dark night of the soul.

In Your Face: Queer Portraiture Now

To celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month, the Socially Engaged Art Salon are showcasing the work of 59 local and international photographers. Through each of their work, they have challenged traditional notions of gender and sexuality whilst fostering a sense of community.

Unlocking Your Inner Demons: A Mask Making Workshop with Mandy Sweats
22 February // 15.00 – 17.00 // Free
Join Mandy Sweats for a hands-on workshop where you can bring your inner demons to life through the art of mask-making. Throughout the workshop, Mandy will help guide you in exploring your emotions and expressing them artistically. Unleash your creativity in this one-of-a kind workshop.
Open to all, children under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult.

Adur & Worthing based creatives can get involved with SEAS upcoming exhibition ‘In Your Face – Queer Portraiture Now’. Interested photographers can send up to four low-res images in email, along with a 50 word bio, 50 word artist statement & links to their social media &/or website. All submissions will be printed for free by SEAS and will be for sale.

Shutter Hub are bringing their exhibition To the Sea, to the page for their Shutter Hub publication. Submit your work and join them in their book created to celebrate the sea. The call for entries is pay what you can with a minimum donation of £10.
