There’s no better way to discover local art in Worthing this festive season.
Colonnade House is delighted to announce its fourth Festive Pop-up shop, a two-week opportunity to purchase unique and artistic gifts during the Christmas season.
Run by the members who work in Colonnade House’s studios, as well as a few other independent makers based in and around Worthing, the shop will once again offer the chance to engage with local creatives whilst shopping for beautifully crafted presents and pocket money buys. Items for sale will include screen prints, illustrated Christmas cards and limited edition ceramics.
On Thursday 19 Colonnade House will be open until 20.00 for late night shopping. We hope that you’ll join us in picking up some last minute gifts as well as chatting to the artists.
Meet the makers:
Diane Bailey is a local wildlife artist and keen scuba diver! She has recently relocated to West Sussex from Devon and has brought her ‘BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year’ accolades with her. Her charismatic creature coasters will be on sale – the perfect gift for any animal lover.
Nicky Bell is a contemporary artist and educator working in watercolours, photography and video. Her work is based on the natural environment with particular attention paid to landscape, seascape and botanical art.
Ellie Bond is a Worthing based creative and alongside commissioned projects is the inventor of the now infamous ‘Señor Sausage’. These hot dogs like to relax, chill on a shelf and watch the world go by – a fantastic gift for all the family.
John Bond is an illustrator based in Worthing. The hugely talented John will be selling signed copies of his latest book ‘Mini Rabbit Not Lost’, alongside limited edition prints, pin badges, tea towels and greetings cards.
Peon Boyle is a printmaking artist who runs Sussex Printmakers, a diverse range of stimulating, artist-led courses and open access studio sessions based within her workshop at Colonnade House and at Northbrook Metropolitan College. Peon will be selling a selection of her most recent work which has been translated onto ceramic surfaces.
Pip Carter is a writer and illustrator based in Worthing. Pip is passionate about environmental issues and her illustrative prints are inspired by nature and wildlife. She creates her illustrations using both hand drawn and digital methods, combining modern with traditional. Her illustrations come to life with personality and visual wit and carry a sense of narrative beyond the image that draws you into her world.
Sarah Edmonds is an illustrator and designer based in Worthing. Her portfolio includes hand drawn maps, mischievous puns, colourful alphabets and curious characters, produced using a fusion of hand drawn and digital techniques. Alongside commissioned projects she produces her own collections of illustrated gifts such as calendars, tea towels and tote bags.
Daniel Good is an artist and children’s television producer specialising in photography, sculpture and digital drawing. In his photography and fine art practice, Daniel produces surprising, sometimes semi abstract imagery that is concerned with finding the emotional and conceptual in the everyday. Daniel often collages, heavily retouches, or illustrates onto his photos to create remarkable new realities.
Shona Macdonald, the self styled ‘crow lady’, works predominantly through combining collagraph printmaking with papercutting. Her work is concerned with death and renewal in the natural world, sometimes whimsical and illustrative but always seeking beauty.
Men in Sheds are a woodwork group who produce and restore wooden objects whilst building and sharing skills, socialising and pursuing individual and group projects. A frequent exhibitor at the Festive Pop-up Shop, their items include Christmas ornaments, homeware and garden accessories such as bug hotels and bird houses.
Alison Tyldesley’s love of landscape is the driving force behind her majestic paintings. Her inspiration comes from the drama of rapidly changing weather, rugged landscapes and dramatic seascapes. Alison will be selling a selection of her original large scale works, alongside smaller editions.
Open Tuesday – Sunday // 10.00 – 17.00
