Something exciting is making its way to Colonnade House this July & August.

We have a whole two weeks dedicated to free arts based workshops for children, families and young people. From monoprinting and cyanotypes, to sea shanty experiences, there’s something for everyone!

We See, The Sea is in partnership with Sussex Bay & The Arts Society Steyning.

Creative Waves Underwater Installation

Create an underwater installation in the gallery windows with Creative Waves to kick off the start of our We See, The Sea arts based activities.

Make your own sea creature out of recycled art.

Create a collage of your favourite sea creature from rubbish collected on beach cleans across the Sussex coast. Turn trash into something to treasure while protecting the ocean.

Textile Monoprinting with Lucinda Button
Friday 01 August // 14.00 – 16.00

Capture the mood of the sea with simple mark making with Mono printing onto fabric with Artist Lucinda Button.

In this session you will learn to capture the colours and emotions of the sea using monoprinting, use simple hand stitch embroidery, and repurpose local found beach detritus.

Stitch It Don’t Ditch It with CREW
Saturday 02 August // 10.00 – 12.00

Join CREW for Stitch It Don’t Ditch It and jazz up that t-shirt you’re fed up with.. even make it into a cool bag. They will have plenty of bits and bobs for you to rummage through.

All ages welcome and all children to be accompanied by an adult and its FREE.

David Parker from Figment Arts will be leading this workshop where you will make individual hagstone viewers and one giant viewer which will be in the gallery looking out.

Wednesday 06 August // 10.00 – 14.00

Level 3 will be sharing some of their tools and methods to build a playable experience. Participants can build plasticine models that will be 3d scanned and animated, co-create an underwater environment.
