This March you can expect to see sculpture, abstract and fine art as well as the opening of Our Creative Community & our Micro Print Fair that celebrates the wonderful community of artists and makers in Worthing. 

Thank you to everyone that has supported us over the last few months. From attending our Consultation Week, putting on or attending one or more of our workshops, providing feedback, and continuing to visit the gallery are all things we will continue to be grateful for. With your support and the commitment of additional funding from the Adur & Worthing Trust, the project can continue as if for the remainder of 2025 as we continue to seek additional funding.

New Reflections in Metal, Glass & Art
04 – 09 March // 10.00 – 17.00

Expect intricate metal sculptures made out of everyday objects, delicate glass artworks and a series of paintings of some familiar local landscapes in this group show by Steve Rickman, Kate Mercy and Laurie Avadis.

Kate Mercy is inspired by the beauty and versatility of glass, using this to create unique and striking pieces of art.

Steve Rickman is a metal artist who has the vision to transform everyday objects into striking works of art.

Laurie Avadis works in watercolour, acrylic and mixed media with a particular love for capturing the Sussex beaches and the South Downs.

Rosemary Jones: A Retrospective
04 – 09 March // 10.00 – 17.00

Drawn to the landscapes in Worthing and West Sussex, Rosemary Jones has captured the beauty of the Downs and surrounding areas in her many layered, and multi-coloured linoprints. This exhibition will feature new and older works that captures this wonderful local scenery.

Rosemary Jones specialises in linocut printmaking, each piece she makes is entirely unique, made with real ink, on real paper, with a real press, entirely made by hand. Find out more about Rosemary and her work on her website, Instagram & Facebook.

Paul Cates: My Mum Doesn’t Understand My Art
11 – 16 March // 10.00 – 17.00

Paul Cates takes inspiration from moments of vulnerability and mortality, shining a light on his innermost thoughts, past memories and everyday occurrences. His current exhibition will showcase a selection of work spanning ten years, each piece having influenced his practice over time. 

Paul is a London based self-taught artist working mainly in print and installations. He has participated in art trails in Worthing and in London, exhibiting at well known galleries as well as from his artist studio. Roger Edwards: The Rough with the Smooth
18 – 22 March // 10.00 – 17.00

Taking inspiration from his childhood fascination with insects, Roger Edwards has spent time taking up the challenge of creating these into stone sculptures. Roger is able to create different textures and colours, transforming somewhat ordinary materials into a series of humorous sculptures. 

Josephine Nobile: Echoes of Emotion
18 – 22 March // 10.00 – 17.00

Josephine using painting as a way to express what words can’t. Echoes of Emotion offers a glimpse into her creative process, inviting viewers to reflect on their own emotional journeys.

Our Creative Community
24 March – 05 April // 10.00 – 17.00
Submission fee £5.00 – £10.00 // Create a piece of original artwork

We’re calling on all local artists, sculptors, designers, crafters and more of any age to create and display a piece of original artwork to fundraise for the Adur & Worthing Trust. We will provide artists with a 12″x 12″ piece of paper which can picked up from the gallery or artists can provide their own. Once you have your card, you can create a piece of artwork that will make its way to the gallery walls.

All work must be either posted or dropped off at Colonnade House by 22nd March, 17.00 at the latest.

Micro Print Fair

We are looking for donations of prints to sell in our fundraising Micro Print Fair. This is for those who have a print that they would be happy to donate, that can be sold to help support the ongoing work of Adur & Worthing Trust in their management of Colonnade House.

This is Gender invites artists to challenge stereotypes, celebrate resilience and capture the diverse lived experiences of people with disabilities across genders, cultures and spaces. All visual media is welcome and they particularly encourage submissions from artists with disabilities and perspectives from diverse genders and geographies. John Moores Painting Prize // Deadline 24 March // £30 Submission fee

The John Moores Painting Prize is open to all UK artists – the undiscovered, emerging and the established who work with paint. Selected artists will exhibit at the Walker Art Gallery, plus the opportunity to win additional prizes. Find out more about the opportunity and how to apply here.

Public Art Installation // Deadline 31 March

Hyde Devco Ltd. are offering a £30,000 art commission for the creation of a sculpture or art installation within the development known as Former Adur Civic Centre, Shoreham-by-Sea. The commission is to provide a piece of public art that can be enjoyed by both residents of the development, office workers and the public. Rebecca Vassie Memorial Award // Deadline 31 March

The Rebecca Vassie Memorial Award is open to photographers at early-to-mid career stage. They are looking to fund a stills photography project that is either brand new or in the early stages which can be undertaken within 12 months of receiving the award. The winner will receive £2,000 to cover all costs for the project, support towards industry and public exposure, promotion of work through online channels and mentorship from Karen Harvey of Shutter Hub.
