Meet Ali + Jam
This year we’re celebrating 10 years of Colonnade House and will be sitting down with 10 artists to hear all about their creative practices. From painters, illustrators, sculptors and more, each artist is just one of the many who have been a part of Colonnade House over the years.
We visited Ali + Jam at hello DODO to hear all about what they’ve been up to.
Can you tell us a little about yourselves?
We are Ali + Jam and we have run hello DODO together for almost 15 years now.
We create really fun and colourful products to make people smile.
We hand print everything from our garden studio and we also have a colourful shop in West Worthing where we run screenprinting Squeegee Club workshops that are super fun for the whole family.
What did exhibiting at Colonnade House lead to?
Colonnade House means so much to us. When we first moved to Worthing, we did our first ever solo pop up shop and it just gave us so much confidence to grow as a brand and to try and do other big things with our own work and it made us feel connected to the community and other artists. It really felt like it was a big stepping stone for making Worthing feel like home to us.
Over the years we’ve been back to Colonnade House many times to run our own solo pop up shops, be part of groups shows and also to run workshops in the space and it has brought so many opportunities to us. It’s definitely been the catalyst for having the confidence for us to open our own shop and expand our workshops.
What have you been up to recently?
The next exciting thing coming up for us is we’re running our own group show in our West Worthing shop called Oh My Dog. We have lots of artists both local and all over the UK creating work inspired by dogs so that’s very exciting.
