Make the most of these darker months and fill your days with everything that’s on offer this November at Colonnade House.
We’re looking forward to showcasing some solo shows by local artists, group shows of painters, illustrators and more.
Peon Boyle: Finding MEaning
Exhibition // 05 – 10 November // 10.00 – 17.00
Finding MEaning celebrates everyday life in all its mundanity. Looking for meaning in everyday life, Peon explores the slow process of making through printmaking, drawing and installation, celebrating how everyday ordinary material and objects can also be unique and beautiful.
On the 07 November, hear from the artists themselves as Peon Boyle and Michael Lainchbury speak about their work, inspirations and creative processes. After the talk there will be the opportunity to engage in conversations and enjoy both of their exhibitions in their private view. You can book your free spot on the talk here.
Michael Lainchbury: Level Nivelo 159
Exhibition // 05 – 10 November // 10.00 – 17.00
Embark on a journey of imagination, a place where normality and reality have been suspended as you marvel at Michael Lainchbury’s ceramics, each with its own unique story to tell.
Michael is a self-taught ceramicist specialising in hand built closed forms that he creates with his passion for experimental smoke firing techniques.
Clare Buckle: Creative Journeys
Exhibition // 12 – 17 November // 10.00 – 17.00
Showcasing work by students from Sussex to Canada and everywhere in between, Creative Journeys celebrates the resilience and bravery of continuing to create, despite challenging personal or external circumstances. Many of the works on show reflect the joy and peace provided by sending time in nature, alongside the excitement of discovering new techniques, media and a personal way of working.
Clare is a painter, printmaker and tutor. Her own practice centers around aspects of landscape; monolithic industrial buildings, structures in the landscape and overlooked details in ordinary places. Alongside her art practice, Clare’s Creative Journeys course began as weekly classes for adults in West and East Sussex.
With works reflecting the contribution of creativity to mental wellbeing, 10% of the proceeds of all sales will go to West Sussex Mind to provide support to those who need help with their mental health.
Three Painters
Exhibition // 19 – 24 November // 10.00 – 17.00
Three local painters, Julie Burnett-Kirk, Ted Poole and Andrew Wallis join us in the gallery to showcase their work. With each artist being inspired by the landscape both local to them and places further afield, you can join them on their journeys into the countryside in their group exhibition.
RIOT + PAYNE (again)
Exhibition // 26 November – 01 December // 10.00 – 17.00
Enjoy the humorous and at times cynical illustrations by Suzy Riot alongside the bold, vibrant and playful abstract paintings of Michele Payne as the duo return to Colonnade House.
Although they differ in their practices, they are united with their work being inspired by human behaviour and all its oddities.
