Figment Arts Looking Out

Figment Arts: Looking Out

Figment Arts, Lancing, will be collaborating with Superstar Arts, Worthing, to support a group of learning disabled participants to visit Highdown Gardens, and produce creative responses to the coming of Spring, using Kaleidoscopes, photography, video and mixed media visual art.

About

After two years of challenging times for everyone, learning disabled people have been hit particularly hard, both by Covid itself, and the subsequent impacts of lockdown and social isolation. This project represents a somewhat ‘fresh start’. Spring is the season of hope, renewal and new growth.

David Parker, Artistic Director at Figment Arts, will visit the gardens with a group of learning disabled artists.  After each visit the group will continue working at Superstar Arts, based at West Worthing Baptist Church, running workshops with the group to create new visual art, moving image and photography.

The artists will then use a giant kaleidoscope to create abstract patterns and textures from the photos and videos that the group have taken.
