Artist Barry Williams co-runs West End Gallery in Worthing. Together he and Sarah Sepe share studio space and exhibit their work in the gallery, alongside guest artists, as well as hosting the monthly Artists Networking Breakfast. The breakfast, which is held at Brunswick & Thorn on the 7 of every month, is an opportunity for local makers to come together and share ideas and updates on their work. The gallery and breakfast is an essential visit for anyone wanting to get acquainted with the cultural scene in Worthing, as you can meet like-minded people and learn more about navigating the town as a creative.
Barry’s artwork involves creating miniature portrait scenes inside sardine cans. Inspired by the work of 18th century painters William Hogarth and Thomas Gainsborough, he aims to bring their Conversation pieces (small-scale group portraits) into the present day with his sculptures. He often goes beach-combing and recycles mundane objects to produce these comments on modern life.
Join Barry and Sarah at the next Artists Networking Breakfast on 7 September 2019.
