Our exhibitions this August are all great examples of resilience as in each case, the Covid crisis has forced re-thinking and re-scheduling. Enjoy them in person and online and read on for news about funding and the return of Photo Fringe in Worthing this autumn.
Not The Degree Show
4 – 15 August // 10.00 – 17.00 // Closed Sundays & Mondays

Amongst the things that haven’t happened this year the final celebratory degree shows for students on arts courses around the country (and around the world) have been sorely missed. So this group of BA(Hons) Fine Art students from GBMET have decided to put on their own, and we applaud them for taking the initiative to do this. Using painting, sculpture, installation and photography, you will find that each of these ten artists looks at the world in unique ways, whether through a microscope, through exploring materials, through collaboration or through personal experience.

Arts Council England Project Grants
14 August // 14.00 – 15.30 // Free – online session

Arts Council England’s main funding scheme for the arts sector is called Project Grants. It has recently been re-opened for applications with a number of changes in response to the Covid crisis. Register for this free online event to find out more about how to apply.

Alison Tyldesley & Diane Bailey: Clouds & Claws
18 – 23 August // 10.00 – 17.00

Diane and Alison‘s exhibition drew such a wonderful response at the end of May – but it could only be seen through the windows. Now is your chance to come in and see the work up close, and maybe treat yourself to a mood-lifting landscape or vibrant wildlife painting.

Old Cartshed Studio: Elemental
25 August – 5 September // 10.00 – 17.00 // Closed Sundays & Mondays

Artists and printmakers Peon Boyle and Shona Macdonald joined forces earlier this year to set up their new printmaking studio venture Old Cartshed Studios, teaming up with ceramicist Mike Lainchbury. And then Covid came and everything stopped. But not for long – they have been busy making new work throughout lockdown, taking inspiration from their new environment, and getting ready to begin again in September.
